Country & Rustic Quilts

Our Classic Country Quilts & Rustic Quilts use traditional quilting designs and techniques. Most, if not all of our country quilts are hand quilted using a variety of sewing techniques such as:

Hand quilting:

Is the process of using a needle and thread to sew a running stitch by hand across the entire area to be quilted. This binds the layers together.

Pick Stitch:

Also known as a Rocking Stitch, this technique is done by driving the needle from the top side and then pushing it back to the top in a rocking, or see-saw, motion. This is the traditional technique used by quilters the world over.

On-Point Quilting:

In this design technique the quilted blocks are arranged so that their points/corners point up and down.

Double Railroad Quilting:

This style of quilting is done with two lines next to each other, like on a rail road track.

Echo Quilting:

This technique creates a ripple effect following the design of the center pattern. The center design could be a star, circle or any other shape. We prefer to do this by hand for a rich, intricate look.

Channel quilting:

A series of parallel, straight line quilting creates "channels". A large number of our quilts use this technique.

Stitch in the Ditch Quilting:

In this technique, the quilting follows the lines created by the blocks used in the patchwork.

The country quilts bedding collection also lends a more personal feeling to any room. And, even better, the comforting tones of our high quality traditional patchwork quilts don't just have to go on your bed. They can even be hung on the walls to make a dramatic statement.

For the man who is concerned using a quilt will make a room feel too feminine, don't worry! This collection includes several quilts and accessories in earth tones, to avoid an overly feminine feel. These also make great birthday, holiday or Father's Day gifts.

We carry several styles and designs including:

Nine Patch:

These quilts are made by sewing five patterned or dark pieces (patches) to four light square pieces in alternating order. These nine sewn squares make one block which are repeated to create the top of the quilt.

Log Cabin:

These Quilts quilts are pieced quilts featuring blocks made of strips of fabric, typically encircling a small centered square (symbolizing the hearth of the home), with light strips forming half the square and dark strips the other half. Dramatic contrast effects with light and dark fabrics are created by various layouts of the blocks when joined to form a quilt top.

Double Wedding Ring:

The Double Wedding Ring design consists of interlocking circles pieced with small arcs of fabric. The finished quilts are often given to commemorate marriages.
